L'art de la plume

In 2021, Monnaie de Paris inaugurated a new series around literary styles and authors who have marked the history of literature in France and abroad. Poetry, theater or novels, discover the authors celebrated by the Monnaie de Paris each year.

Emblematic coins

This series present a common reverse where we can find a pen engraved in the center of the piece accompanied by emblematic quotes of the most famous authors such as «Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien» by Voltaire, «Lasciate ogne speranza voi ch'intrate» by Dante Alighieri, “To be or not to be that is the question” by William Shakespeare or “Was mich nicht umbringt macht mich stärker” by Nietzsche.

2025 : jules verne

This magnificent series of pieces highlights the fascinating stories and incredible adventures of the author's tales.

2024 : Alexandre Dumas

The Three Musketeers is undeniably Alexandre Dumas' most influential work. This captivating novel follows the adventures of D'Artagnan, an ambitious young Gascon, who travels to Paris to become a musketeer for King Louis XIII. He befriends Athos, Porthos and Aramis, three seasoned musketeers, and together they become embroiled in political intrigue, exciting duels and dangerous plots.

2024 : Luís Vaz de Camões

Monnaie de Paris is celebrating Portuguese literature with Luiz Vaz de Camões, a 16th-century poet considered to be one of the most important literary figures in the Portuguese language. His most famous work is the poetic epic ‘The Lusiads’, which recounts the exploits of Portuguese explorers and celebrates the greatness of their nation.

2023 : Shakespeare
