Tour de France

The Tour de France is the world's most famous cycling race. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its arrival on the Champs-Elysées, Monnaie de Paris is unveiling two commemorative 10 euros and 50 euros coins, just 100 days before the start of the race in Lille-Nord de France.

This collection pays tribute to the Tour de France, a unifying sporting event. Every year, millions of spectators come together for three weeks to follow the exploits of incredible athletes and travel all over France. The fervour surrounding the Tour is testament to the place that this event has created for itself in the world.

Emblematic coin

On the front of this coin, a rider in the Tour de France is shown with his fist raised in victory. Behind him is the symbol of the Avenue des Champs-Elysées: the Arc de Triomphe. On the left, a vintage cyclist is depicted on a wire, a reference to the participants in the 1975 Tour de France. The outline of the coin and the spokes are reminiscent of a bicycle wheel. The Tour de France logo is on the right, the year on the left, and the hallmarks are inscribed in the inner tube.
