History of United States independence

Starting in 2020, Monnaie de Paris will retrace the history of American Independence through a collection of coins. The designs of the coins are directly inspired by historical products published by Monnaie de Paris: old medals from our archives.

In this collection, today's engraving workshop pays tribute to its 18th century counterparts! The difficulty lies in transcribing the volumes of old medals by transposing them onto contemporary coins, a real challenge and a symbol of our age-old know-how.

Emblematic coins

The engraving of these coins is taken from old medals of Monnaie de Paris which brings authenticity to these coins. Some of them are octagonal, a format that is a technical feat in terms of cutting, and others are struck in high relief on each side with a patina, a novelty at Monnaie de Paris!

2022 : Great seal of the United States

Discover the collection

Used to authenticate certain documents issued by the federal government of the United States, the seal has not been altered despite some artistic changes. This year it is featured on gold and silver coins.
