    Description

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the creation of UNICEF, Monnaie de Paris has decided to create a €2 Commemorative coin to support it. For every 2€ BE or BU collector coin purchased, Monnaie de Paris will donate 2€ to UNICEF.

The obverse of the coin presents the earth in the form of a puzzle, a metaphor that represents the link that binds us together. Two children's hands surround the globe and remind us of UNICEF's commitment to children around the world.

An olive branch, a symbol of peace, is present on the left side, a nod to UNICEF's logo.

The 75th anniversary date of the creation of UNICEF are present on the top left, its motto "for every child" is in the continuity of the date on the top right.RF is located at the bottom right as well as the hallmark of Joaquin Jimenez.

The reverse is the 2€ common reverse to all countries in Europe. The face value "2 euro" appears in front of the map of Europe.

    Our craftman

    • THE ENGRAVER

Trained at the best schools, they have the years of experience behind them necessary to master all aspects of the craft. Using industrial oil-based modelling clay and working from a design executed freehand or with CAD software, they skilfully fashion a low relief model in order to enhance the engraving and the way it catches the light. They work alternately with concave and convex plaster moulds until satisfied they have achieved the best 3D rendering of the design.

    • THE MINTER

The first minters began to ply their trade in France when striking with a hammer appeared in the 4th century BC. Nowdays, minsters use press instead of a hammer. Their knowledge of dies, engraving and metals, and their expertise - passed seamlessly down from one generation to the next for centuries - guarantees the excellence of their work.
