After taking us to Portugal in 2019, the UNESCO World Heritage collection takes us this year to Greece, France and Japan, with a collection of gold and silver coins highlighting four classified UNESCO World Heritage sites: Olympia, Mount Saint-Michel, Mount Fuji and Forbidden City.

FORBIDDEN CITY
FORBIDDEN CITY
Built between 1406 and 1420 in the centre of Beijing, China, the Forbidden City celebrates its 600 years in 2020. An anniversary celebrated by Monnaie de Paris with the edition of a series of coins on which we find a view of the Palace from the outside courtyard. A gigantic dragon, symbol of Chinese imperial power, overlooks the building. A 1/4 euro Forbidden City in current metal is also available.

MOUNT FUJI
MOUNT FUJI
World Heritage Site since 2013, Mount Fuji is one of the most representative symbols of Japan. We find it on the face of the coins, seen from the Chureito pagoda which enjoys an impregnable view of the sacred mountain, accompanied by a torii topped with a branch of cherry blossom, two other major symbols of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Listed since 1979, the Mount Saint-Michel represents an architectural jewel of a great variety in so far as its construction took place over several centuries, since 966.
We can see on the face of the coins the Mount Saint-Michel, dominated by its abbey, while are reflected in the water different architectural forms characteristic of the cloister of the abbey, masterpiece of Gothic style.

OLYMPIA
The Antique Sports were born in Olympia, Greece, in 776 BC; competitions took place every four years on the site until 393.
The face of the coins mixes various evocative symbols of the site, classified since 1989: remains of ancient monuments, a flame and a priestess of Olympus. In the background, the geometric shapes refer to the Greek amphitheatres and the early stadiums.
