    Description

In 2021, we will celebrate the bicentenary of the passing away of Napoleon I. This year will therefore be truly "Napoleon Year" celebrated in France and internationally. We obviously couldn't miss this event and wanted to celebrate it not only from several angles of the heritage of this period of French history but also through our different types of products.

On the front, the portrait of Napoleon as an Emperor by Anne-Louis Girodet de Roussy-Triosson, with his laurel crown and the Legion of Honour around his neck.

The pictogram specially created by Monnaie deParis for the bicentenary of Napoleon's death is also depicted.

On the reverse, we have chosen to represent an iconic symbol of Napoleon: the bee, symbol of immortality and resurrection. They were chosen to be linked to the new dynasty at the origins of France.

The reverse sides of the 8 coins also feature the Monnaie de Paris and Napoléon Foundation logos.

    Our craftman

    • THE ENGRAVER

Trained at the best schools, they have the years of experience behind them necessary to master all aspects of the craft. Using industrial oil-based modelling clay and working from a design executed freehand or with CAD software, they skilfully fashion a low relief model in order to enhance the engraving and the way it catches the light. They work alternately with concave and convex plaster moulds until satisfied they have achieved the best 3D rendering of the design.

    • THE MINTER

The first minters began to ply their trade in France when striking with a hammer appeared in the 4th century BC. Nowdays, minsters use press instead of a hammer. Their knowledge of dies, engraving and metals, and their expertise - passed seamlessly down from one generation to the next for centuries - guarantees the excellence of their work.
