    Description

In 2021, we will celebrate the bicentenary of the passing away of Napoleon I. This year will therefore be truly "Napoleon Year" celebrated in France and internationally. We obviously couldn't miss this event and wanted to celebrate it not only from several angles of the heritage of this period of French history but also through our different types of products.

On this side, we have represented the portrait of Napoleon with his laurel crown.

Several strong symbols are depicted: the Legion of Honour instituted by Napoleon, the Eagle, the bees and the sun of Austerlitz. The words "2S" are inscribed inside it commemorating the date of the victory of the battle of Austerlitz, 2 December 1805, the "S" representing the month of December.

The reverse shows the three symbols of nature of Natures de France collection, presented through the series : the oak, the laurel and the wheat. An hexagon representing France is inserted in the design. The laurel branch on the left and the oak branch on the right decorate this hexagon. We can find the wheat ear at the center of the reverse. It is crowned by the face value and surrounded by the mention « République Française ». We can see the engravings on both sides of the laurel and oak branches stalks. A beaded design making the outline of the coin gives it some elegance reminding ald french coins designs.

    Our craftman

    • THE ENGRAVER

Trained at the best schools, they have the years of experience behind them necessary to master all aspects of the craft. Using industrial oil-based modelling clay and working from a design executed freehand or with CAD software, they skilfully fashion a low relief model in order to enhance the engraving and the way it catches the light. They work alternately with concave and convex plaster moulds until satisfied they have achieved the best 3D rendering of the design.

    • THE MINTER

The first minters began to ply their trade in France when striking with a hammer appeared in the 4th century BC. Nowdays, minsters use press instead of a hammer. Their knowledge of dies, engraving and metals, and their expertise - passed seamlessly down from one generation to the next for centuries - guarantees the excellence of their work.
