On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Euro, Monnaie de Paris wanted to pay tribute to Jacques Chirac, President of the Republic in 2002 when the Euro was introduced. The design features Jacques Chirac's profile surrounded by several symbols representing his action: a euro symbol, a sign of his involvement in the introduction of the euro and his European spirit, and a French flag represented in heraldic colours.
