The Collection
To commemorate a memorable event in a child's life, the Monnaie de Paris launches a brand new collection entitled "My First Coin." Giving a child their first coin is a symbolic, lasting, and timeless gift that will be passed down through generations. Whether it's for a birth, a christening, or any other special occasion, this collection is perfect for celebrating the precious moments of life.
This new collection immerses us in a poetic and light universe, perfectly in line with the gift-oriented nature of this product range. Who doesn't have a child in their circle to whom they could give their first coin? It's a gift with great symbolic value that will accompany them throughout their life. Four little animals (fox, rabbit, mouse, and bear) share their gentle adventures through the illustrations on the product packaging. For the first edition, the little fox is prominently featured on the common 5€ coin, and the little mouse serves as a recurring motif on the reverse side of each coin.

THE ENAMELLER
Our creations are enamelled using a rare technique known as grand feu enamelling. Another workshop sends the enameller a decoration, piece of jewellery or struck medal with hollow spaces on its surface. Using a dip pen, needle or brush, the enameller fills these hollows with enamel, which they have prepared themselves. The fixing of the variously coloured enamel powders is controlled by short, successive firings at 900 degrees.
THE ENGRAVER
Trained at the best schools, they have the years of experience behind them necessary to master all aspects of the craft. Using industrial oil-based modelling clay and working from a design executed freehand or with CAD software, they skilfully fashion a low relief model in order to enhance the engraving and the way it catches the light. They work alternately with concave and convex plaster moulds until satisfied they have achieved the best 3D rendering of the design.
