Premiers pas sur la lune

On July 21, 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first human being to set foot on the Moon. Small step for man but big step for humanity, Monnaie de Paris paid tribute to this major event of our History with a series of gold and silver coins, with a new technical prowess...

The obverse of the coin shows the Moon in close-up. In the centre, an astronaut in weightlessness walks on the Moon as testify the several step marks. The resin referring to the Universe is set all around the Moon, in crescent-shape.

The reverse refers to a "seen from Earth" view. The Moon stands on the left and the astronaut is seen from the back.. The mentions "1969-2019" and "50 ans des Premiers Pas sur la Lune" mark the anniversary of this event. The face value is also visible on the reverse.

Emblematic coins

In order to enhance the collection, Monnaie de Paris innovates by proposing a new technique of resin application on the 10€ Silver coin. The perforated space is filled-in with resin creating a translucent surface, clearing up in front of any light source. The 1 Oz gold and 5 Oz silver coins have a resin deposit on the surface.
