24 hours of Le Mans - Centenary

On the occasion of the centenary of the first edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world's greatest endurance car race, Monnaie de Paris is taking part in this anniversary by designing and producing the brand new trophy that will be awarded to the winning team of the 2023 edition, as well as striking a new collection of coins.

As an artist and motorsport enthusiast, it is a great honor for me to have been able to design and create the trophy for the 100th edition of the 24H du Mans. The coins of this collection tell a human adventure around and in the heart of an exceptional and unique competition in the world, which links time, the event and history.

Emblematic coins

This collection is composed of classic collector coins as well as a commemorative 10 euro coin. This 10 euro commemorative coin celebrate this centenary in a form of relay between the 1923 edition and the 2023 edition. It features a Chenard and Walcker, the winning car of the first edition of the endurance grand prix of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, which faces here a modern car. On the collection coins, we find on the face two racing cars registered in a 24 hours chronometer. The reverse polishing on the top of the coin allows to differentiate the day from the night. On the reverse, the two faces mark the evolution of a century of competition.
