The Monnaie de Paris site incorporates a museum and a factory: the museum route offers a unique experience that combines both exhibition galleries and a view of certain workshops – casting, chasing and burnishing, the ‘Grand Monnayage’ (minting) – of the Monnaie de Paris.

On the first three Fridays of the month, from 11.15 am, you can witness the preparation and casting of decorative cast iron in the Foundry, visible from the museum. Watch our art casters, dressed in their aluminised overalls, as they create castings in molten metal. Each week, new objects – statuettes, trophies and more – leave the last still-operational art foundry in Paris. A unique experience in the heart of Paris.

The workshops operate according to the production needs of the company, which remains an active factory. Castings may be postponed, as their preparation requires a lot of work and special security measures. Stay informed via the programme of events.
