Built in the 17th century, the gates of the Château de Versailles are the main entrance to the castle. Restored in 2008 after having disappeared during the revolution, the gates of the Château de Versailles are covered
with no less than 100.000 gold leaves. The obverse portrays the central portion of the gates; in the background, a view of the Château de Versailles from the garden side.

ALEXANDER III BRIDGE
ALEXANDER III BRIDGE
Built in honour of the Russian Czar, Alexander III for the World’s Fair in 1900, the bridge that is listed as a historical monument, connects the Grand and Petit Palais with the Invalides. The obverse portrays the Alexander III bridge crossing the Seine as seen from the right bank. In the foreground an enlarged view of a Fame accompanied by Pegagus.
