The obverse represents soldiers in the middle of the battlefield. On the left, a soldier carries a rifle with fixed bayonet. On his side stands an officer with a revolver. Both wear an Adrian helmet, introduced in 1915. On the right side, two soldiers are running in the no man’s land. Below, the Sacred-way, linking Bar-le-Duc to Verdun (numbered RD1916) is represented.
The reverse of the medal represents a map of the battlefront as stabilized end of 1916.
