This medal, in monetary bronze is a wedding of 2 dies (coining tool) : the original die of the observe is a remake of the original tool and the original tool of the reverse with the addition of an engraving « Centenaire de la guerre1918-2018 ».

Thismedal was produced at the first time in 1932. The creator of this original drawing is François Cogné (1876-1952), sculptor and creator also of the statueof Georges Clemenceau in Les Champs Elysées. The medal is inspired by this statue. Monnaie de Paris ordered this medal which integrated the catalogue of the general collection of the medals , under the Third Republic. The artist chose to represent Georges Clemenceau walking, dressed in a country style with a long coat while he was visiting the soldiers in the battle front. A dense fog symbolizes the harsch climate but also the doubts and the difficulties the soldiers had to cope with. On the right, the birth and death dates of Georges Clemenceau.

On the reverse, a War memorial and a memorial plaque  pay tribute to Georges Clémenceau. The engraving « Edition du Centenaire 1918-2018 » appears on the bottom of the medal.
