In 2017, Monnaie de Paris presents a series of gold and silver Euros Coins depicting France seen by Jean Paul Gaultier. The cities, the provinces or the regions are seen through the eyes of French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier are presented on the twenty-four 10€ silver coins. Two uncolorised 50€ silver coins, two colorised 50€ silver coins and the 200€ gold coin featuring the strong French symbols complete the series.
On the obverse of the firt 50€ Silver coin, we can see a hen and a rooster at the 14th of July ball. Jean Paul Gaultier dresses one of France’s major symbol : the rooster, and his girlfriend the hen. He is wearing a marinière and she is wearing a corset, iconic items of the fashion designer. They are dancing under the Eiffel Tower for the National Day.
The obverse of the second 50€ Silver coin presents an other symbol of France : La Marseillaise. Jean Paul Gaultier illustrates the national anthem with dressed roosters. They can be sports players or not, they sing together this patriotic song.
