In 2016, Monnaie de Paris honoured the character Mickey and his evolution through ages. The year 2017 marks the anniversary of the animated television series DuckTales, broadcasted for the first time in September 1987. It is also Scrooge McDuck’s 70th birthday, one of Disney’s emblematic character.
On the obverse of this 500€ Gold coin, Scrooge McDuck is highlighted, surrounded by Donald Duck, his grandnephews Huey Duck, Dewey Duck, and Louie Duck and Daisy Duck.
The reverse of this coin presents the perfect symmetry of the outline of Scrooge McDuck’s head that is presented on the obverse.
It is drawn on the same background as the one present on the obverse and inspired from Disney’s universe, composed of bubbles of comics, stars or again Donald’s beret.
