• Thomas Schütte exhibition, a real first in Paris
• Meeting between two universes: Thomas Schütte’s oeuvre with the know-how of Monnaie de Paris
First exhibition in France dedicated to the major and unclassifiable German artist Thomas Schütte, "Three Acts" takes place between the 15/03/2019 and the 16/06/2019. A student of Gerhard Richter at the Düsseldorf Kunstakadamie until 1981, the artist is now recognised as one of the principal reinventors of modern sculpture.
Thomas Schütte is influenced by classical sculpture and its powerful codes of representation, as his oeuvre has broken its ties with minimal and conceptual art. He has recently enjoyed several major solo exhibitions and European retrospectives of his work including the Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2016), the Beyeler Foundation, Basel (2013) and the Serpentine Gallery, London (2012). He received the Golden Lion award at the Venice Biennale in 2005. His works can be found in some of the greatest museum collections and are regularly exhibited.
This postcard shows the work Drittes Tier, displayed in the Cour de la Méridienne of the Monnaie de Paris. Produced for this exhibition, this sculpture is part of a new and astonishing series of fountains featuring an imaginary bestiary, inspired by clay figurines the artist created for his children.
