The Summer Olympic games that will take place in Paris in 2024 are the opportunity, for Monnaie de Paris to celebrate this major international competition through a series celebrating Sport, its values and the athletes. Olympism and Paralympism will be highlighted on those products, struck in France in our art workshops.
In 2023, we are developing a collection of medallions representing the 26 letters of the Alphabet illustrated by 26 Olympic and Paralympic sports.
Para-swimming is one of the historic sports of the Paralympic Games, as the discipline was part of the programme of the first Games in 1960. Because of its ease of practice and the fact that it does not require any specific equipment (the use of prostheses is forbidden), para-swimming is a discipline that can be practised with all types of physical and mental disabilities. Today, it is one of the most popular sports at the Paralympic Games.
