The Summer Olympic games that will take place in Paris in 2024 are the opportunity, for Monnaie de Paris to celebrate this major international competition through a series celebrating Sport, its values and the athletes. Olympism and Paralympism will be highlighted on those products, struck in France in our art workshops.
In 2023, we are developing a collection of medallions representing the 26 letters of the Alphabet illustrated by 26 Olympic and Paralympic sports.
Football has its origins in ancient China, but it was in England that its modern form was born and in the 16th century that the rules were codified. Football was included in the Olympic programme at the Paris Games in 1900. Today it is the most popular sport in the world.
The Collection
