On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to these renowned international competitions through a collection honoring sport, its value, the athletes but also the host country's heritage. Olympism and Paralympism are celebrated.
The Olympic collection is not only about sport, but also about the heritage of the host country. Particularly for this edition, the games will be held in the heart of the city, which is why the iconic Parisian locations will be spotlighted.
In 2022, the Montmartre Sacré-Coeur Basilica will be presented. Located at the top of a mound, the Basilica dominates the city. Its dome is over 200 metres above the River Seine, it is the highest point in Paris after the Eiffel Tower.
The reverse side of the series shows a view of Paris where the Seine looks like an athletics track. The Eiffel Tower dominates the city and illuminates the competition.
