On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to these renowned international competition and honours the mascot.
The mascot is a meaningful symbol of France's image and an absolute symbol of freedom. It is very expressive, with an endearing personality and full of energy. It speaks to everyone and embodies the Games. The Phrygian cap comes to life and is animated for the first time on French Republic coins.
The Olympic Mascot is highlighted on this coin. It is part of a tribe of phrygian caps, who came to help French people to conduct their revolution through sport.
On the obverse of the 2022 coins, the Mascot is standing, surrounded by PARIS 2024 universe : an arch, tribute to the Art Deco style, and a all-over pattern composed of the letter of the PARIS 2024 word.
The reverse is common to all the PARIS 2024 Games classical collector coins series. It presents the Eiffel tower, overlooking at the city which is becoming progressively, a sport place.

Our craftman
THE ENGRAVER
Trained at the best schools, they have the years of experience behind them necessary to master all aspects of the craft. Using industrial oil-based modelling clay and working from a design executed freehand or with CAD software, they skilfully fashion a low relief model in order to enhance the engraving and the way it catches the light. They work alternately with concave and convex plaster moulds until satisfied they have achieved the best 3D rendering of the design.
THE MINTER
The first minters began to ply their trade in France when striking with a hammer appeared in the 4th century BC. Nowdays, minsters use press instead of a hammer. Their knowledge of dies, engraving and metals, and their expertise - passed seamlessly down from one generation to the next for centuries - guarantees the excellence of their work.
