    Description

On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to these renowned international competition and honours the pictograms.

Originally created to facilitate signage at competition venues in an international and multilingual context, pictograms have now become a strong symbol of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. They are like coats of arms, rallying signs for each sport.

The 62 pictograms of the Olympic and Paralympic Games serve as standards representing a sports discipline, pride, and values. They will adorn competition venues and be visible wherever the Games are experienced, guiding spectators and energizing crowds.

This coinset incorporates the new obverses of the French centimes: 50, 20 and 10 centimes dated 2024. These three coins will honor three exceptional women: Marie Curie, Josephine Baker and Simone Veil, all three pantheonized for their many contributions to France's influence.

    The Collection

Monnaie de Paris celebrates the Olympic and Paralympic Games with various innovative and new collections over several years, showcasing the sportsmen and the Olympic spirit. Our craftman

    • THE ENGRAVER

Trained at the best schools, they have the years of experience behind them necessary to master all aspects of the craft. Using industrial oil-based modelling clay and working from a design executed freehand or with CAD software, they skilfully fashion a low relief model in order to enhance the engraving and the way it catches the light. They work alternately with concave and convex plaster moulds until satisfied they have achieved the best 3D rendering of the design.

    • THE MINTER

The first minters began to ply their trade in France when striking with a hammer appeared in the 4th century BC. Nowdays, minsters use press instead of a hammer. Their knowledge of dies, engraving and metals, and their expertise - passed seamlessly down from one generation to the next for centuries - guarantees the excellence of their work.
