Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris receives more than 13 million visitors a year from around the world. It is the most visited monument in Europe. In 2019, it suffered a terrible fire that destroyed a big part of the cathedral. Monnaie de Paris wishes to contribute to the reconstruction of this major monument of the French History.

The coin are inspired by the one created in 2013 and celebrated the 850th anniversary of the Cathedral. The obverse of the coin pays tribute to the architecture of this exceptional cathedral by depicting its most distinguishable features: the gargoyles, the towers and the centre of the rose window. “15/04/2019 Reconstruction” and “Notre-Dame de Paris” are written, evoking the help of Monnaie de Paris for the reconstruction.

The face value, the yeardate 2019 and the UNESCO logo are featured on the reverse.
