This extraordinary building, with foundations that date back to 1163, has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This 850th anniversary in 2013 has inspired Monnaie de Paris to honor the Cathedrale by its dedicating of a medal.
Following the fire, which occurred on April 15, which destroyed part of the historic monument, Monnaie de Paris mobilized to pay tribute by dedicating a medal.
The obverse represents the south facade of the Cathedral. Tribute to the architecture of this famous monument. Inscribed are symbols of Gothic art: a gargoyle, the arch of the main entry and tympanum of Notre-Dame.
