Description
The gift of
a coin to a child is a lasting and timeless gift.
Each coin
is engraved with the year, making it a unique and personalised gift. The coin
can be kept for life, marking the start of a precious collection that could
grow over the years. It's a symbolic gift that crosses generations.
Whether for
a birth, christening or any other special occasion, this collection is perfect
for celebrating life's precious moments.
The obverse
shows a fox on a walk in the forest. His gait is light and cheerful as he is on
his way to celebrate the arrival of a new-born in the forest. He is holding in
his paw the gift he will give to this new baby.
On the
reverse, a little mouse holds a 5-euro coin, symbolising the face value of this
currency. The ‘RF’ symbol, the yeardate and the hallmarks are situated to its
right.
The Collection
To mark a precious moment in a child's life, the Monnaie de Paris presents its My First Coin collection. Giving a child their first coin is a symbolic and lasting gift, ideal for a birth, christening or any other special occasion.
This new collection immerses us in a poetic and light universe, perfectly in line with the gift-oriented nature of this product range. Who doesn't have a child in their circle to whom they could give their first coin? It's a gift with great symbolic value that will accompany them throughout their life. Four little animals (fox, rabbit, mouse, and bear) share their gentle adventures through the illustrations on the product packaging. For the first edition, the little fox is prominently featured on the common 5€ coin, and the little mouse serves as a recurring motif on the reverse side of each coin.
Engraver word
Our craftman
THE ENGRAVER
Trained at the best schools, they have the years of experience behind them necessary to master all aspects of the craft. Using industrial oil-based modelling clay and working from a design executed freehand or with CAD software, they skilfully fashion a low relief model in order to enhance the engraving and the way it catches the light. They work alternately with concave and convex plaster moulds until satisfied they have achieved the best 3D rendering of the design.
THE MINTER
The first minters began to ply their trade in France when striking with a hammer appeared in the 4th century BC. Nowdays, minsters use press instead of a hammer. Their knowledge of dies, engraving and metals, and their expertise - passed seamlessly down from one generation to the next for centuries - guarantees the excellence of their work.
