L'Équipe - 80th Anniversary
Since 1946, the newspaper L'Équipe has been chronicling the great history of sport. To celebrate the newspaper's 80th anniversary, the Monnaie de Paris is launching an exclusive collection that combines a passion for sport with the art of engraving, immortalising the disciplines and heroes that have left their mark on generations of readers and supporters. This first year will start with four sports and will continue in 2027 and 2028 with two new sports per year.

This collection embodies the meeting of the art of engraving and a passion for sport. Each piece captures an iconic moment: the footballer taking a shot, the tennis player serving, the Formula 1 driver celebrating, the rugby player receiving the pass. Through these gestures, we pay tribute to 80 years of sporting emotions carried by L'Équipe and engraved forever by the Monnaie de Paris.

Each side of these 10 euro silver coins celebrates an iconic sport: football, Formula 1, tennis and rugby. Each coin depicts an athlete with historic front pages from L'Équipe dedicated to the sport in question in the background. On the reverse, the headlines and names of the sports are reproduced in a graphic style reminiscent of the newspaper. The four silver coins are available in a box set, and a gold ‘football’ coin completes the collection.
