Description
From 2010,
the French Excellence series has been combining the exceptional know-how of
Comité Colbert brands or a French cultural institution with that of Monnaie de
Paris to create a unique collection that combines their respective
talents.
In 2025,
the Lancôme House is celebrated for its 90th anniversary.
Monnaie de Paris and Lancôme are both members of Comité Colbert. They share a reputation for excellence, built over time through the quality of their creations. Each House has a deep-rooted vocation to perpetuate its know-how, while looking to the future and always seeking to innovate.
On the obverse, Joaquin Jimenez’s rose supports the 90 year of Lancôme logo, colourised in pink. The « 0 » of the 90 is topped by a circumflex accent, in reference to Lancôme signature.
On the reverse, the same rose has three distinct patterns. The first one, takes the shape of a smile and is a reference to perfume. The second one is a guilloché, it symbolises the work of man on the material. The last motif is a sandblast reminiscent of make-up powder. The rose is surrounded by a crown of roses on the stems and the name of the perfume « La vie est belle ».
Our craftman
THE MEDAL MINTER
The medal minter transforms a blank into a medal, alternating between striking to bring out the relief and annealing to return the metal to a more malleable state. The blank is struck as many times as necessary, depending on the diameter, depth and detail of the engraving. Finally, surface treatments are applied to enhance the finished piece
THE ENGRAVER
Trained at the best schools, they have the years of experience behind them necessary to master all aspects of the craft. Using industrial oil-based modelling clay and working from a design executed freehand or with CAD software, they skilfully fashion a low relief model in order to enhance the engraving and the way it catches the light. They work alternately with concave and convex plaster moulds until satisfied they have achieved the best 3D rendering of the design.
