    Description

    • Celebration of an important event of the hsitory
    • Technical innovation for the resin

2019 celebrates the 50 years of the First Step on the Moon. Named Apollo 11, this mission has been settled by the NASA. It was organised on the 20th of july in 1969. For the first time, humans landed safely on the moon. It was a victory for the United States and for Mankind. Among the crew members, was Neil Armstrong. This man was both the captain of the mission and Lunar Module pilot.

On the 50 € Silver coin, the scenery of the space is particularly elaborated with stars in relief in the middle of the mirror-polished surface. It highlights the same elements such as the view of the earth and the Universe. It emphasises on the specific polishing, a classic know-how of Proof collector coins.
There is literally not a face and reverse but a Moon sight and an Earth sight.

    The Collection

The fall of the Berlin Wall, the first steps on the Moon, or the Allied invasion of Normandy during the Second World War. These are some of the highlights to which Monnaie de Paris would like to pay tribute with a collection called Major Landmarks in the History of Humanity. A collection characterized, also, by a series of technical prowess.

    Our craftman

    • THE ENGRAVER

Trained at the best schools, they have the years of experience behind them necessary to master all aspects of the craft. Using industrial oil-based modelling clay and working from a design executed freehand or with CAD software, they skilfully fashion a low relief model in order to enhance the engraving and the way it catches the light. They work alternately with concave and convex plaster moulds until satisfied they have achieved the best 3D rendering of the design.

    • THE MINTER

The first minters began to ply their trade in France when striking with a hammer appeared in the 4th century BC. Nowdays, minsters use press instead of a hammer. Their knowledge of dies, engraving and metals, and their expertise - passed seamlessly down from one generation to the next for centuries - guarantees the excellence of their work.
