    Description

Forty years after Dragon Ball first appeared in Japan on February 26, 1986, the universe created by Akira Toriyama continues to inspire generations of fans around the world. From Goku’s early adventures to the legendary battles that have shaped the history of Japanese animation, the series has become a true cultural phenomenon. As the second-largest manga market after Japan, France sold nearly 33 million volumes in 2025, even surpassing the comic book market. As the third-best-selling manga of all time in France, Dragon Ball is an iconic phenomenon of 1990s manga culture.

Dragon Ball follows the adventures of Goku, a young boy with extraordinary strength who was raised in the mountains and meets Bulma, a brilliant inventor searching for the mysterious Dragon Balls, seven orbs capable of making wishes come true. Together, they travel the world and face many opponents. Throughout his adventures, Goku trains under masters like Master Roshi and participates in martial arts tournaments. He becomes friends with loyal allies like Krillin and faces powerful enemies such as Piccolo. His travels and battles allow him to develop his abilities and make progress on his quest, all while protecting the Dragon Balls from the forces seeking to seize them.

To begin the collection, Monnaie de Paris is offering a limited quantity of a collector's album and two sleeves at a preferential price containing two different mini-médaills.

    Our craftman

    • THE MEDAL MINTER

The medal minter transforms a blank into a medal, alternating between striking to bring out the relief and annealing to return the metal to a more malleable state. The blank is struck as many times as necessary, depending on the diameter, depth and detail of the engraving. Finally, surface treatments are applied to enhance the finished piece

    • THE ENGRAVER

Trained at the best schools, they have the years of experience behind them necessary to master all aspects of the craft. Using industrial oil-based modelling clay and working from a design executed freehand or with CAD software, they skilfully fashion a low relief model in order to enhance the engraving and the way it catches the light. They work alternately with concave and convex plaster moulds until satisfied they have achieved the best 3D rendering of the design.
