Chinese calendar – Year of the Goat

For thousands of years, the Chinese calendar has marked the passage of time through a cycle of twelve animals, each associated with particular personality traits and symbolism. In 2027, the Goat takes centre stage in this traditional zodiac. A sign of gentleness, sensitivity and creativity, it embodies harmony, kindness and an appreciation of beauty.

Emblematic coins

Comprising seven denominations, the collection celebrates the Year of the Goat through a range of silver and gold coins, including a 500-euro gold coin with a reverse-polished finish. On the obverse, in the centre, a goat passes through a ring adorned with traditional Chinese motifs, accompanied by the ideogram associated with this sign. The year 2027 and the inscription ‘Year of the Goat’ complete the design. On the reverse, the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac are depicted on a screen surrounding a traditional temple door, symbolising a complete zodiacal cycle spanning from 2018 to 2029.
