Animal of the world

Following on from the French people’s favourite animals, in 2026 the Monnaie de Paris will be celebrating the world’s animals through a collection dedicated to our planet’s iconic species. From tigers to elephants, and from hummingbirds to dolphins, each coin celebrates the richness of life and encourages us to preserve this universal natural heritage.

Having spent my youth surrounded by animals, this collection is very close to my heart . Engraving the world’s animals means putting our expertise to work in promoting biodiversity. Each piece has been designed with the aim of capturing the characteristics of these species as faithfully as possible and illustrating the vital role they play in maintaining the balance of our planet.

Pièces emblématiques

Each coin features a trio of iconic animals brought together in a harmonious composition evoking the richness and diversity of life. Panda, red panda and koala; lion, tiger and leopard; dolphin, sea turtle and clownfish; parrot, ostrich and hummingbird; polar bear, penguin and seal; or elephant, rhinoceros and giraffe: each group illustrates a unique natural world. A wreath of elements characteristic of their habitats and ways of life enhances the depictions, like a true family portrait, celebrating the beauty and balance of the animal kingdom. A 500-euro coin struck in pure gold completes the collection.
