The Summer Olympic games that will take place in Paris in 2024 are the opportunity, for Monnaie de Paris to celebrate this major international competition through a series celebrating Sport, its values and the athletes. Olympism and Paralympism will be highlighted on those products, struck in France in our art workshops.
In 2023, we are developing a collection of medallions representing the 26 letters of the Alphabet illustrated by 26 Olympic and Paralympic sports.
Sailing involves moving a boat with the help of the wind around a course delimited by buoys, a starting line and a finishing line. The conditions are always changing and require a great deal of technique and experience on the part of the athletes to master. Sailing has been on the Olympic programme since the first Olympic Games of the modern era. Two events never seen before at the Olympic Games will be held in Paris in 2024: IQ foil windsurfing and formula kite. 5 out of 10 disciplines will use flying machines (foils) for the Paris 2024 events.
